Features list
Following list describes the original markers, that were avaliable since the start of this project. However, there are some features that are not yet documented:
- Custom code insert - to put a custom CSS or JS file in the header of an exported page; this way you can do anything with some specific part of your prototype, while the rest is automatically generated
- Custom image - to use any custom image, that will be loaded to an exported page; most useful for animated gifs
- Page load delay - to put a constant or random delay on page opening, when another page is displayed on top of it
- Real HTML forms - with value posting between pages, validation on change or on submit, etc
Should you have any question about them, please use the contact form to let me know.
And these are some basic functions to prove the real potential of VisDynamica service in easing your everyday work. With its well designed architecture, the capabilities and extensibility of the service are almost unlimited. It constantly waits for your feature requests!
Links
This is not much different from the default Microsoft Visio™ feature. You can use this marker to attach a hyperlink to some area of your drawing. The bonus is that this link could point to the main frame of the exported webpage or it could stay in current context - a popup, a dynamically loaded part of the screen, etc.
Dynamic loading
With dynamic loading you can easily simulate things like dropdown menus or tooltips. This feature is generic in nature, so you might find many more applications (e.g. it can dynamically replace some parts of the layout).
Popup layer
Instead of a flat drawing, put a real popup on a layer on your design. And it is just like a normal page, with all dynamic features, like internal navigation. For now, it comes with only a default behavior - open it with a link, and close by sending a link to canvas frame or clicking on the dimmed screen around the popup.
Tabbed interface
Now this could be a real time-saver. This feature can generate a ready-to-click tabbed interface with just a few moves. Draw each tab on a separate page and link it in marker’s
hyperlinks. The “description” parameter of each hyperlink will be rendered as tab caption. This is a very basic form of this feature, but there seems to be really much space for improvement.
Youtube video
This is neat, isn’t it?
Get rid of those lame placeholders saying „this is gonna be
a video clip” and place a real Youtube video on your drawing. The marker comes with eight predefined sizes of the player (including four that are widescreen).
Some markers will work properly only when you apply the real-pixel-size hack to the page setup. This is done by switching the page metrics to points (pt), and it’s scale to 1 pt = 1,3333 pt. When you do so, all points sizes reported by Microsoft Visio™ will actually match almost accurately the pixel sizes of the same drawing when it is exported to a webpage. This is quite useful in general terms, so you might consider making it a habit. I did.
