Since the 2.1.0.0 version of the desktop client, and the 2011-02-28 release of the Visio stencil, there is a completely new and more intuitive way of using Layout boxes for generating complex page layouts.
A more elaborate tutorial is coming soon, and in the meantime – please visit the live preview, and download the source Visio document to see how it works.
To create a page layout (i.e. a set of boxes, that load different content and dynamically interact with each other):
- Set some Layout boxes in order and position that represent the desired grid
- Group them
Connect a Layout grid Connection mod to the whole group(Unnecessary as of the 2011-07-26 update)
Using that setup, VisDynamica automatically creates the HTML code with properly nested DIVs that contain all the Layout boxes, and deliver the real-life interactions between them.
