1. Draw a control that will be linking somewhere. It could be anything, a button, an image, a text caption – it just has to look the way you want it to.

2. Place a Link shape on the drawing. Move and resize it to properly cover the region you want to trigger the link.

3. Press Ctrl+K to define the link. Use the “Sub-address” field to create a link to a different page of the same drawing. You might also enter a full address (i.e. “http://www.domain.com/subpage.html”) into the “Address” field if you want to link to a remote internet location.

4. After exporting, the area covered by the Link shape becomes a link.

More options
As in every VisDynamica Visio shape, there are some options for customizing the behaviour of a Link shape. All of them are available in the “Shape Data” window (see Working with VisDynamica shapes for more details).
Mode – available values are:
- Standard – default behaviour, where a link will just reload the whole page or its parent Layout box if there is any.
- Top – this setting forces the whole page reloading, even if the link is contained in a Layout box
- New – a link with this setting opens a new window
- Close – a link in this mode is used to close the parent Popup window or DynamicLoad
Multiple links – when there are more than just one address configured in the link, it goes to the toggle mode, triggering them one after another.
This shape also offers some advanced settings, available in many other VisDynamica shapes. Please see Working with VisDynamica shapes to learn more about them.
